Preview

Let's just make a quick assumption, which may or may not prove to be correct. Let's assume that Chelsea finish outside the top four of the Premier League. If that's the case then Arsenal, Newcastle or Spurs will finish fourth with Champions League qualification the potential prize.
LAWRO'S PREDICTION

"The Gunners had a firm grasp on third not so long ago but they have hit the buffers a little bit in recent weeks."

Now just imagine how nervous that fourth-placed team is going to be feeling as Chelsea run out in the Allianz Arena for the Champions League final, six days after the last Premier League games have been played.

That team, whoever it may be, will know that if Chelsea should win that solitary game against Bayern Munich, then the team who has slogged and sweated over 38 matches to finish fourth will be out of the Champions League and into the Europa League.

This season, finishing fourth may guarantee you nothing except a week of sleepless nights and a temporary membership of the Bayern Munich supporters club. That's why Arsenal cannot allow themselves to make their almost customary slip-up at Stoke.

The Gunners have visited the Britannia Stadium four times and come home beaten on three occasions. Avoiding a repeat is imperative.

Stoke have dealt with a hugely demanding season pretty well. Only Chelsea have played more than their tally of 52 matches and counting. Despite the early start (on 28 July) and some exhausting away trips to some of the most remote outposts of European football (Kiev, Tel Aviv, Istanbul, Gillingham) they are only four points shy of their points tally from last season with three games to play, and may yet better their highest top-flight finish since 1975, which is 11th.
MATCH FACTS

Head-to-head

All but one of the last five league and cup meetings between these sides have ended 3-1.
Arsenal have lost three of their last four games at the Britannia Stadium in all competitions.

Stoke

The Potters have won one of their last seven games (W1, D3, L3). However, they are unbeaten in their last four home matches, winning three and drawing with Manchester City.
If games finished at half-time, Stoke would be second bottom.
Stoke's tally of 32 league goals is the lowest in the four divisions of English football, albeit clubs outside the top flight play more matches.
Opta statistics show the Potters have scored the highest proportion of goals from set-pieces in this season's Premier League (63%), while Arsenal have netted the lowest (13%).

Arsenal

The Gunners have recouped 19 points from losing positions this term, the best record in the top flight.
They have conceded 29 goals away from home this season, the worst record of any top-half side. The two Manchester clubs have conceded a combined tally of just 30 away goals.
Robin van Persie has failed to score from open play in his last seven games. Defender Thomas Vermaelen has scored three times since van Persie's last goal from open play, which came against Newcastle on 12 March.
Van Persie has registered 63 shots on target from inside the penalty area in this season's Premier League, two more than the entire Stoke squad, according to Opta figures.
