Real Madrid and Bayern Munich clash on Wednesday evening in the second-leg of their UEFA Champions League semi-final.

Jose Mourinho's side come into the game on the back of a 2-1 win over Barcelona at the weekend aware that victory is needed if they want to book a place in the final.

Mourinho now knows that waiting for the winners of their tie is his former club Chelsea, who shocked Barca on Tuesday night.

Real, like Barca, come into the second-leg as favourites despite trailing - but Bayern are in equally determined mood as they know that if they do make the final it takes place at their own Allianz Arena home.

"We defend our ideas and we know what we want to do and how to do it. I also know what Bayern want to do. If they don't score, they will be out. I think they will score," said Mourinho.

"Bayern are a great team, the coach is good and they have the right to think they are going to play the final. They have the strength of a team."

Like Real, Bayern come into the game off the back of a 2-1 away triumph as they won at Werder Bremen.

Jupp Heynckes admits that Real's performance at the weekend has given him even more to think about, despite winning in Munich last week.

"It might be even more difficult than we had envisaged because of what we saw on Saturday in Barcelona," he said.

"Madrid need to score but we know we are also capable of doing so at any moment."
Team news

Real come into the game with the luxury of having a near fully fit squad to choose from.

Ricardo Carvalho is unlikely to feature due to a thigh injury, whilst at left-back he must decide whether to stick with Fabio Coentrao or bring in Marcelo - who in-turn could be deployed in midfield.

Gonzalo Higuain and Kaka both started on the bench in Barcelona on Saturday and will be pushing for places, but Mourinho looks unlikely to make a massive amount of changes.

Unlike Mourinho, Heynckes was able to rest a number of his key players for the match, meaning he will have his strongest XI available.

Germany international midfield stalwart Bastian Schweinsteiger is set to start but Daniel Van Buyten and Breno are both ruled out.
